Quannish Calendar: Unified Calendar of Endleland

Overview

As Quaaninmore became a hub for oversea trade, and eventually a hub for Trade Dispute Resolution throughout Endleland, the courts in Quaaninmore became increasingly more obsessed with the vagaries of calendar translations between all the regional methods for tracking time. To that end it was ordered that a unified calendar of Endleland be established. Any disputes brought before the Courts of Quaaninmore must reference all dates in this Unified Structure. Furthermore, any legal documents that were presented that made use of other calendars would be treated as secondary sources whose authenticity is not fully trusted. While this at first was strongly resisted, most especially by Imperial Neams, it eventually became the standard means by which all date-based activities were chronicled, including histories, ceremonial celebrations, etc.

The Unified Calendar took great pains to acknowledge all of the heritages and ancestries across both the Upper and Lower, as well as recognizing the religious holidays and forms of worship. In short, it was a great success. Of all the churches in the Upper, only the Church of Mrith continued to keep their ledgers and histories by the Imperial Calendar.

The Quaanish Calendar, as it was called, arbitrarily marked it's origin as year 1 in the year it was authored, 825 IR. It is abbreviated QY, or Quaanish Year.

Calendar Structure

The Quaanish Calendar is a solar calendar with 365 days in each year. There are 13 months in the calendar that range from 5 to 31 days in length. The New Year occurs on the first day of Autumn.

Weeks are 12 days long, the first day of the week traditionally being a day of rest.
